G Fairway Wood

G® Fairway

With the G fairway woods, getting the ball in the air is easy with their lower lead edge, which gets the club under the ball so impact occurs higher on the face. Our thinnest crown ever in a PING fairway wood allows for a low-back CG to ensure high launch, low spin and extreme forgiveness.

Thinner Crown

Weight saved by thinning the crown was used to lower the CG, increase MOI and make it easy to get the ball in the air, even when struck low on the face. Turbulators capture the ball and can aid in alignment.

Lower Lead Edge

Getting the ball airborne is easy with a lower lead edge that slides the face under the ball so impact occurs higher on the face (12% higher than G30 fairway woods).

Tiered Internal Sole

Cascading structure relieves stress at impact by pooling it so the entire face is engaged in flexing. Maximum energy transfer means fast ball speeds and big distance.

Carpenter 455 Face

More than twice as strong as cast 17-4 stainless, Carpenter 455 allows for a thinner, variable-thickness, precision-machined face that increases flexing for fast ball speeds, high launch and greater distance. A unique process adds roughness to the face to reduce spin.

To get the most distance from your driver, you must optimize the launch angle and spin rate of the ball by selecting the proper loft and the shaft flex for your swing speed. Generally, golfers with slower swing speeds require more lofted drivers and more flexible shafts to achieve the proper launch conditions. Conversely, golfers with faster swing speeds generally require lower lofted drivers and firmer shafts.
A trained fitter can help you get the most out of each drive by observing the ball flight of shots hit with different loft and shaft specifications, and recommending the combination that creates the best trajectory shape for maximum distance. To find out which driver lofts and shaft flexes might be suggested for your swing get Web-Fit.

PING J-5L ROUND
GRIP-5L J ROUND
colorcode The 5L grip features a firmer texture in the upper portion to help control direction and a softer texture in the lower portion for enhanced feel. It is available in two versions – round for clubs with PING’s Trajectory Tuning+ Technology, and ribbed for the hybrids and irons.
PING 5L Round Cord

colorcode2 The 5L cord grip features a firmer texture in the upper portion to help control direction and a softer texture in the lower portion for enhanced feel. Cord construction provides an extra-secure grip in all conditions. It is available in two versions – round for clubs with PING’s Trajectory Tuning+ Technology, and ribbed for the hybrids and irons.
PING offers a variety of grip sizes and styles to fit different hand sizes and texture preferences. Since grip size influences your wrist action, and therefore the direction of your shots, it is commonly used by fitters to affect ball flight.
PING color-coded grips are available in six different diameters, and can be further customized with grip tape according to your needs. Once the neutral grip color code has been determined based on hand measurements, golfers may consider smaller diameter grips to help control fades and slices, or larger diameter grips to help control draws and hooks.

Getting the ball in the air can be a challenge with fairway woods, but not with the G series. A lower lead edge helps slide the clubface under the ball so impact occurs higher on the face (12% higher than G30). Weight saved by thinning the crown was used to lower the CG, increase forgiveness, and make it easy to get the ball airborne, even when struck low on the face.

Carpenter 455 steel has a high strength-to-weight ratio, allowing for a thinner, variable-thickness, precision-machined face that increases flexing for fast ball speeds, high launch and greater distance. A unique process adds friction to the face to reduce spin.

n addition to the standard 3-, 5-, and 7-woods, G fairway woods are available in Straight-Flight Technology versions and G Stretch 3-wood. The SF Tec 3- and -5 woods have a CG closer to the heel to provide right-to-left spin (for right-handed golfers) and steer the ball back into the fairway. The G Stretch 3-wood is engineered to stretch your distance off the tee and on shots into the green with its larger head, slightly forward CG, 13º loft, and lower spin.

To fine-tune your launch conditions prior to a round, adjust the loft up to ±1° using Trajectory Tuning 2.0, which utilizes a lightweight, aerodynamically and high-strength 7075 aluminum hosel sleeve. Crown turbulators give the ball a captured appearance and aid in alignment.
