G400 Fairway wood

G400 FAIRWAY WOOD

The G400 fairway woods’ ball speed and stopping power come from an innovative maraging steel face that flexes 30% more, making them our hottest, highest-launching fairway woods ever. The machined back weight is 25% more dense to increase total MOI for extreme forgiveness and tighter dispersion.

Maraging Steel Face

Extremely thin, strong and flexible, maraging steel (commonly used in the aerospace industry) generates faster ball speeds to launch shots farther, higher, and straighter.

Thinnest Crown

The 17-4 SS crown is cast ultra-thin to save weight, position the CG low, and increase total MOI (high-low, heel-toe). Turbulators increase ball speed and provide a captured look.

Machined Back Weight

The machined back weight is more dense to increase total MOI for extreme forgiveness with maximum stability while enabling you to customize your swing weight.

Reduced Spin

The face texture reduces spin, and the head’s cascading sole increases face flexing for higher launch.

SHAFT

Maximizing your distance and accuracy on long shots from the fairway is accomplished by matching the correct shaft flex for your swing. The goal is to achieve the correct trajectory with the fairway wood, which maximizes distance with the longer woods and minimizes roll with the shorter woods.

Generally, the same shaft type and flex as your driver will produce the optimal trajectory in fairway woods, but it is not uncommon for players to have a different shaft brand, type and/or flex in their fairway woods since they are ground-impact clubs and may perform differently for some players.

We recommend that you get fit for the shaft that allows you to play your best golf. Whether that’s a softer, lighter shaft with a higher launch or a heavier, stiffer shaft with a lower trajectory, a PING Certified Club Fitter can help you find the shaft that brings consistency to your game.

PING offers a variety of grip sizes and styles to fit different hand sizes and texture preferences. Since grip size influences your wrist action, and therefore the direction of your shots, it is commonly used by fitters to affect ball flight.

PING color-coded grips are available in six different diameters, and can be further customized with grip tape according to your needs. Once the neutral grip color code has been determined based on hand measurements, golfers may consider smaller diameter grips to help control fades and slices, or larger diameter grips to help control draws and hooks.

The G400 fairway wood has expanded fitting options with the addition of a 9-wood and three SFT (Straight Flight) choices (3, 5, 7) to help golfers bring their shots back on line. The Stretch 3-wood is also available as a high-performance option off the tee to deliver distance and accuracy or when going for par-5s in two.
