Gmax Iron

GMAX IRON

In the GMax iron, PING engineers have created our longest, straightest model ever utilizing COR-Eye Technology, a revolutionary design that increases face flexing for faster ball speeds across the face to generate incredible distance. The wide sole design positions the CG low/back to maximize forgiveness. Progressive lengths and lofts are optimized for efficient gapping with the distance control and high trajectory you need to hit and hold more greens.

COR-Eye Technology

Distance is generated from greater ball speeds created by the simultaneous activation of the sole, face and top rail. This produces more face flexing to spring the ball off the face up to 3 mph faster than previous PING models. The 4 thru 8 iron faces are heat treated using a specialized process that strengthens the material by approximately 40%, creating a Hyper-17-4 alloy and allowing the face to be thinner for greater flexing and faster ball speeds.

High-MOI Design

A new cavity structure houses a concealed Custom Tuning Port that connects to the sole. With this deeper position, each iron’s center of gravity is moved lower and farther back to increase the moment of inertia for extreme forgiveness and higher-launching results.

Sole Geometry

The wide sole design locates the center of gravity to maximize forgiveness, leading to more-accurate iron shots that launch higher and land softly to hold greens. The sole geometry reveals an enhanced leading edge, more trailing edge relief and refined bounce to optimize turf interaction.

Lighter Swingweights

In the 4 thru 6 irons, lighter swingweights help square the face at impact, creating faster ball speeds for longer, straighter shots.

Shaft-Fitting Options

With two PING shaft choices (CFS Distance and CFS Graphite) and four popular after-market stock options, matching a shaft to fit your ball flight and feel preferences is easy.

PING offers a variety of shaft flexes in steel and graphite to meet every golfer’s needs and preferences. Selecting the proper shaft flex for your swing will help you get the most distance and accuracy from every shot. Generally, players with faster swing speeds require stiffer shafts to keep the ball trajectory lower, while players with slower swing speeds will require more flexible shafts to produce a higher ball trajectory.
The choice of steel or graphite shafts is usually based on preferences for weight and/or feel. Players seeking a lighter overall weight and/or a softer feel in their irons may prefer graphite shafts, while players who prefer a standard weight club with a firmer feel may prefer steel shafts.

PING 5L Cord
colorcode2 The 5L cord grip features a firmer texture in the upper portion to help control direction and a softer texture in the lower portion for enhanced feel. Cord construction provides an extra-secure grip in all conditions. It is available in two versions – round for clubs with PING’s Trajectory Tuning+ Technology, and ribbed for the hybrids and irons.
PING offers a variety of grip sizes and styles to fit different hand sizes and texture preferences. Since grip size influences your wrist action, and therefore the direction of your shots, it is commonly used by fitters to affect ball flight.
PING color-coded grips are available in six different diameters, and can be further customized with grip tape according to your needs. Once the neutral grip color code has been determined based on hand measurements, golfers may consider smaller diameter grips to help control fades and slices, or larger diameter grips to help control draws and hooks.

Extreme distance is generated through COR-Eye Technology, which generates faster ball speeds from the simultaneous activation of the sole, face and top rail. With a diving-board-like effect, the ball springs off the face up to 3 mph faster than previous PING models and delivers a powerful sound. The faster ball speed is constant across the entire face, so even off-center strikes deliver longer, straighter results.

The new cavity structure houses a concealed Custom Tuning Port that connects to the sole. With this deeper position, each iron’s CG is lower and farther back for extreme forgiveness and higher launch.

The wide sole design positions the center of gravity to maximize forgiveness, leading to shots that launch higher and land softly. An enhanced leading edge, more trailing-edge relief and refined bounce optimize turf interaction and ensure solid contact

Longer blade lengths and increased offset contribute to the ease of playing the GMax iron. Distance-generating lengths and lofts optimize gapping with the distance control and trajectory you need to hold more greens. In the 4 thru 6 irons, lighter swingweights make it easier to square the face for faster ball speeds and longer, straighter shots. The 4 thru 8 iron faces are heat treated using a specialized process that strengthens the material by approximately 40%, creating a Hyper-17-4 alloy and allowing the face to be thinner for greater flexing and faster ball speeds.

Two PING shaft choices and four popular after-market stock options make it easy to match a shaft with your ball flight and feel preferences.
